Ten Kinds of Deeds
“အသပ္ပုရိသဉ္စ ဝေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒေသေဿာမိ, အသပ္ပုရိသေန အသပ္ပုရိသတရဉ္စ; သပ္ပုရိသဉ္စ, သပ္ပုရိသေန သပ္ပုရိသတရဉ္စ၊ တံ သုဏာထ …ပေ…၊
“Bhikkhus, I will teach you a bad person and a worse person, a good person and a better person.
“ကတမော စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အသပ္ပုရိသော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ပါဏာတိပါတီ ဟောတိ, အဒိန္နာဒါယီ ဟောတိ, ကာမေသုမိစ္ဆာစာရီ ဟောတိ, မုသာဝါဒီ ဟောတိ, ပိသုဏဝါစော ဟောတိ, ဖရုသဝါစော ဟောတိ, သမ္ဖပ္ပလာပီ ဟောတိ, အဘိဇ္ဈာလု ဟောတိ, ဗျာပန္နစိတ္တော ဟောတိ, မိစ္ဆာဒိဋ္ဌိကော ဟောတိ၊ အယံ ဝုစ္စတိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အသပ္ပုရိသော၊
And what is a bad person? It’s someone who kills living creatures, steals, and commits sexual misconduct. They use speech that’s false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. And they’re covetous, malicious, with wrong view. This is called a bad person.
ကတမော စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အသပ္ပုရိသေန အသပ္ပုရိသတရော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော အတ္တနာ စ ပါဏာတိပါတီ ဟောတိ, ပရဉ္စ ပါဏာတိပါတေ သမာဒပေတိ …ပေ… အတ္တနာ စ အဘိဇ္ဈာလု ဟောတိ, ပရဉ္စ အဘိဇ္ဈာယ သမာဒပေတိ; အတ္တနာ စ ဗျာပန္နစိတ္တော ဟောတိ, ပရဉ္စ ဗျာပါဒေ သမာဒပေတိ, အတ္တနာ စ မိစ္ဆာဒိဋ္ဌိကော ဟောတိ, ပရဉ္စ မိစ္ဆာဒိဋ္ဌိယာ သမာဒပေတိ၊ အယံ ဝုစ္စတိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အသပ္ပုရိသေန အသပ္ပုရိသတရော၊
And what is a worse person? It’s someone who kills living creatures, steals, and commits sexual misconduct. They use speech that’s false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. They’re covetous, malicious, with wrong view. And they encourage others to do these things. This is called a worse person.
ကတမော စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သပ္ပုရိသော? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ပါဏာတိပါတာ ပဋိဝိရတော ဟောတိ …ပေ… အနဘိဇ္ဈာလု ဟောတိ, အဗျာပန္နစိတ္တော ဟောတိ, သမ္မာဒိဋ္ဌိကော ဟောတိ၊ အယံ ဝုစ္စတိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သပ္ပုရိသော၊
And what is a good person? It’s someone who doesn’t kill living creatures, steal, or commit sexual misconduct. They don’t use speech that’s false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. And they’re contented, kind-hearted, with right view. This is called a good person.
