Observing Impermanence
สาวตฺถินิทานํฯ
At Sāvatthī.
“สทฺธาปพฺพชิตสฺส, ภิกฺขเว, กุลปุตฺตสฺส อยมนุธมฺโม โหติ—ยํ รูเป อนิจฺจานุปสฺสี วิหเรยฺยฯ เวทนาย … สญฺญาย … สงฺขาเรสุ … วิญฺญาเณ อนิจฺจานุปสฺสี วิหเรยฺย …เป… ‘ปริมุจฺจติ ทุกฺขสฺมา'ติ วทามี”ติฯ
“Bhikkhus, when a gentleman has gone forth out of faith, this is what’s in line with the teachings. They should meditate watching, again and again, impermanence in form, feeling, perception, functioning patterns, and consciousness. … They’re freed from suffering, I say.”
