“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ นิรเยฯ กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ อสฺสทฺโธ โหติ, อหิริโก โหติ, อโนตฺตปฺปี โหติ, กุสีโต โหติ, ทุปฺปญฺโญ โหติฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ นิรเยฯ
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is cast down to hell. What five? It’s when a bhikkhu is faithless, shameless, imprudent, lazy, and witless. A bhikkhu with these five qualities is cast down to hell.
ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ สคฺเคฯ กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ? อิธ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขุ สทฺโธ โหติ, หิรีมา โหติ, โอตฺตปฺปี โหติ, อารทฺธวีริโย โหติ, ปญฺญวา โหติฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ภิกฺขุ ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ สคฺเค”ติฯ
A bhikkhu with five qualities is raised up to heaven. What five? It’s when a bhikkhu is faithful, conscientious, prudent, energetic, and wise. A bhikkhu with these five qualities is raised up to heaven.”
