“तिस्सो इमा, भिक्खवे, वेदना। कतमा तिस्सो? सुखा वेदना, दुक्खा वेदना, अदुक्खमसुखा वेदना—इमा खो, भिक्खवे, तिस्सो वेदना।

“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, vedanā. Katamā tisso? Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanā—imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso vedanā.

“Bhikkhus, there are these three feelings: What three? Pleasant, painful, and neutral feeling. These are the three feelings.

इमासं खो, भिक्खवे, तिस्सन्नं वेदनानं अभिञ्ञाय परिञ्ञाय परिक्खयाय पहानाय …पे… अयं अरियो अट्ठङ्गिको मग्गो भावेतब्बो”ति।

Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ abhiññāya pariññāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo bhāvetabbo”ti.

The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these three feelings.”
