วาสุทตฺตสุตฺต
With Vāsudatta
เอกมนฺตํ ฐิโต โข วาสุทตฺโต เทวปุตฺโต ภควโต สนฺติเก อิมํ คาถํ อภาสิ:
Standing to one side, the god Vāsudatta recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“สตฺติยา วิย โอมฏฺโฐ, ฑยฺหมาโนว มตฺถเก; กามราคปฺปหานาย, สโต ภิกฺขุ ปริพฺพเช”ติฯ
“Like they’re struck by a sword, like their head was on fire, a bhikkhu should wander mindful, to give up sensual desire.”
“สตฺติยา วิย โอมฏฺโฐ, ฑยฺหมาโนว มตฺถเก; สกฺกายทิฏฺฐิปฺปหานาย, สโต ภิกฺขุ ปริพฺพเช”ติฯ
“Like they’re struck by a sword, like their head was on fire, a bhikkhu should wander mindful, to give up identity view.”
