ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា រាជគហេ វិហរតិ វេឡុវនេ កលន្ទកនិវាបេ។ តេន ខោ បន សមយេន ភគវា អាពាធិកោ ហោតិ ទុក្ខិតោ ពាឡ្ហគិលានោ។ អថ ខោ អាយស្មា មហាចុន្ទោ យេន ភគវា តេនុបសង្កមិ; ឧបសង្កមិត្វា ភគវន្តំ អភិវាទេត្វា ឯកមន្តំ និសីទិ។ ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នំ ខោ អាយស្មន្តំ មហាចុន្ទំ ភគវា ឯតទវោច:
At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, in the Bamboo Grove, the squirrels’ feeding ground. Now at that time he was sick, suffering, gravely ill. Then Venerable Mahācunda went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side. The Buddha said to him:
“បដិភន្តុ តំ, ចុន្ទ, ពោជ្ឈង្គា”តិ។
“Cunda, express your understanding of the awakening factors.”
“សត្តិមេ, ភន្តេ, ពោជ្ឈង្គា ភគវតា សម្មទក្ខាតា ភាវិតា ពហុលីកតា អភិញ្ញាយ សម្ពោធាយ និព្ពានាយ សំវត្តន្តិ។ កតមេ សត្ត? សតិសម្ពោជ្ឈង្គោ ខោ, ភន្តេ, ភគវតា សម្មទក្ខាតោ ភាវិតោ ពហុលីកតោ អភិញ្ញាយ សម្ពោធាយ និព្ពានាយ សំវត្តតិ …បេ… ឧបេក្ខាសម្ពោជ្ឈង្គោ ខោ, ភន្តេ, ភគវតា សម្មទក្ខាតោ ភាវិតោ ពហុលីកតោ អភិញ្ញាយ សម្ពោធាយ និព្ពានាយ សំវត្តតិ។ ឥមេ ខោ, ភន្តេ, សត្ត ពោជ្ឈង្គា ភគវតា សម្មទក្ខាតា ភាវិតា ពហុលីកតា អភិញ្ញាយ សម្ពោធាយ និព្ពានាយ សំវត្តន្តី”តិ។
“Sir, the Buddha has rightly explained these seven awakening factors. When developed and cultivated, they lead to direct knowledge, to awakening, and to Nibbana. What seven? The awakening factors of mindfulness, investigation of principles, energy, (mental) joy, tranquility, samādhi, and equanimity. These are the seven awakening factors that the Buddha has rightly explained. When developed and cultivated, they lead to direct knowledge, to awakening, and to Nibbana.”
“តគ្ឃ, ចុន្ទ, ពោជ្ឈង្គា; តគ្ឃ, ចុន្ទ, ពោជ្ឈង្គា”តិ។
“Indeed, Cunda, these are awakening factors! Indeed, Cunda, these are awakening factors!”
ឥទមវោចាយស្មា ចុន្ទោ។ សមនុញ្ញោ សត្ថា អហោសិ។ វុដ្ឋហិ ច ភគវា តម្ហា អាពាធា។ តថាបហីនោ ច ភគវតោ សោ អាពាធោ អហោសីតិ។
This is what Cunda said, and the teacher approved. And that’s how the Buddha recovered from that illness.
