သီလသုတ္တ
Ethics
“ပဉ္စိမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အာဒီနဝါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊ ကတမေ ပဉ္စ?
“Bhikkhus, there are these five drawbacks for an unethical person because of their failure in ethics. What five?
ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုဿီလော သီလဝိပန္နော ပမာဒါဓိကရဏံ မဟတိံ ဘောဂဇာနိံ နိဂစ္ဆတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဌမော အာဒီနဝေါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊
Firstly, an unethical person loses substantial wealth on account of negligence. This is the first drawback.
ပုန စပရံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပန္နဿ ပါပကော ကိတ္တိသဒ္ဒေါ အဗ္ဘုဂ္ဂစ္ဆတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုတိယော အာဒီနဝေါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊
Furthermore, an unethical person gets a bad reputation. This is the second drawback.
ပုန စပရံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုဿီလော သီလဝိပန္နော ယညဒေဝ ပရိသံ ဥပသင်္ကမတိ—ယဒိ ခတ္တိယပရိသံ, ယဒိ ဗြာဟ္မဏပရိသံ, ယဒိ ဂဟပတိပရိသံ, ယဒိ သမဏပရိသံ—အဝိသာရဒေါ ဥပသင်္ကမတိ မင်္ကုဘူတော၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, တတိယော အာဒီနဝေါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊
Furthermore, an unethical person enters any kind of assembly timid and embarrassed, whether it’s an assembly of khattiya class persons, brahmins, householders, or ascetics. This is the third drawback.
ပုန စပရံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုဿီလော သီလဝိပန္နော သမ္မူဠှော ကာလံ ကရောတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတုတ္ထော အာဒီနဝေါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊
Furthermore, an unethical person feels lost when they die. This is the fourth drawback.
ပုန စပရံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုဿီလော သီလဝိပန္နော ကာယဿ ဘေဒါ ပရံ မရဏာ အပါယံ ဒုဂ္ဂတိံ ဝိနိပါတံ နိရယံ ဥပပဇ္ဇတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စမော အာဒီနဝေါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊ ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စ အာဒီနဝါ ဒုဿီလဿ သီလဝိပတ္တိယာ၊
Furthermore, an unethical person, when their body breaks up, after death, is reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell. This is the fifth drawback. These are the five drawbacks for an unethical person because of their failure in ethics.
ပဉ္စိမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အာနိသံသာ သီလဝတော သီလသမ္ပဒါယ၊ ကတမေ ပဉ္စ? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သီလဝါ သီလသမ္ပန္နော အပ္ပမာဒါဓိကရဏံ မဟန္တံ ဘောဂက္ခန္ဓံ အဓိဂစ္ဆတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဌမော အာနိသံသော သီလဝတော သီလသမ္ပဒါယ၊
There are these five benefits for an ethical person because of their accomplishment in ethics. What five? Firstly, an ethical person gains substantial wealth on account of diligence. This is the first benefit.

Furthermore, an ethical person dies not feeling lost. This is the fourth benefit.
ပုန စပရံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သီလဝါ သီလသမ္ပန္နော ကာယဿ ဘေဒါ ပရံ မရဏာ သုဂတိံ သဂ္ဂံ လောကံ ဥပပဇ္ဇတိ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စမော အာနိသံသော သီလဝတော သီလသမ္ပဒါယ၊
Furthermore, when an ethical person’s body breaks up, after death, they’re reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. This is the fifth benefit.
