1. Absorption
သမာဓိမူလကသမာပတ္တိသုတ္တ
Entering Samādhi
သာဝတ္ထိနိဒါနံ၊
At Sāvatthī.
“စတ္တာရောမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဈာယီ၊ ကတမေ စတ္တာရော?
“Bhikkhus, there are these four meditators. What four?
ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ဈာယီ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော ဟောတိ, န သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော၊
One meditator is skilled in samādhi but not in entering it.
ဣဓ ပန, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ဈာယီ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော ဟောတိ, န သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော၊
One meditator is not skilled in samādhi but is skilled in entering it.
ဣဓ ပန, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ဈာယီ နေဝ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော ဟောတိ, န စ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော၊
One meditator is skilled neither in samādhi nor in entering it.
ဣဓ ပန, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ဈာယီ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော စ ဟောတိ, သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော စ၊
One meditator is skilled both in samādhi and in entering it.
တတြ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ယွာယံ ဈာယီ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော စ ဟောတိ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော စ အယံ ဣမေသံ စတုန္နံ ဈာယီနံ အဂ္ဂေါ စ သေဋ္ဌော စ မောက္ခော စ ဥတ္တမော စ ပဝရော စ၊
Of these, the meditator skilled in samādhi and in entering it is the foremost, best, chief, highest, and finest of the four.
သေယျထာပိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဂဝါ ခီရံ, ခီရမှာ ဒဓိ, ဒဓိမှာ နဝနီတံ, နဝနီတမှာ သပ္ပိ, သပ္ပိမှာ သပ္ပိမဏ္ဍော တတြ အဂ္ဂမက္ခာယတိ;
From a cow comes milk, from milk comes curds, from curds come butter, from butter comes ghee, and from ghee comes cream of ghee. And the cream of ghee is said to be the best of these.
ဧဝမေဝ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ယွာယံ ဈာယီ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာဓိကုသလော စ ဟောတိ သမာဓိသ္မိံ သမာပတ္တိကုသလော စ အယံ ဣမေသံ စတုန္နံ ဈာယီနံ အဂ္ဂေါ စ သေဋ္ဌော စ မောက္ခော စ ဥတ္တမော စ ပဝရော စာ”တိ၊
In the same way, the meditator skilled in samādhi and entering it is the foremost, best, leading, highest, and finest of the four.”
