Identity View
සාවත්ථිනිදානං.
At Sāvatthī.
“කිස්මිං නු ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, සති, කිං උපාදාය, කිං අභිනිවිස්ස සක්කායදිට්ඨි උප්පජ්ජතී”ති?
“Bhikkhus, when what exists, because of grasping what and insisting on what, does identity view arise?”
භගවංමූලකා නෝ, භන්තේ, ධම්මා …පේ…
“Our teachings are rooted in the Buddha. …”
“රූපේ ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, සති, රූපං උපාදාය, රූපං අභිනිවිස්ස සක්කායදිට්ඨි උප්පජ්ජති. වේදනාය සති … සඤ්ඤාය සති … සඞ්ඛාරේසු සති … විඤ්ඤාණේ සති, විඤ්ඤාණං උපාදාය, විඤ්ඤාණං අභිනිවිස්ස සක්කායදිට්ඨි උප්පජ්ජති.
“When form exists, because of grasping form and insisting on form, identity view arises. When feeling … perception … functioning patterns … consciousness exists, because of grasping consciousness and insisting on consciousness, identity view arises.
තං කිං මඤ්ඤථ, භික්ඛවේ, රූපං නිච්චං වා අනිච්චං වා”ති?
What do you think, bhikkhus? Is form permanent or impermanent?”
“අනිච්චං, භන්තේ”.
“Impermanent, sir.” …
“යං පනානිච්චං …පේ… අපි නු තං අනුපාදාය සක්කායදිට්ඨි උප්පජ්ජේය්යා”ති?
“But by not grasping what’s impermanent, suffering, and perishable, would identity view arise?”
“නෝ හේතං, භන්තේ”.
“No, sir.”
“වේදනා … සඤ්ඤා … සඞ්ඛාරා … විඤ්ඤාණං නිච්චං වා අනිච්චං වා”ති?
“Is feeling … perception … functioning patterns … consciousness permanent or impermanent?”
“අනිච්චං, භන්තේ”.
“Impermanent, sir.” …
“යං පනානිච්චං …පේ… අපි නු තං අනුපාදාය සක්කායදිට්ඨි උප්පජ්ජේය්යා”ති?
“But by not grasping what’s impermanent, suffering, and perishable, would identity view arise?”
“නෝ හේතං, භන්තේ”.

“ඒවං පස්සං …පේ… නාපරං ඉත්ථත්තායාති පජානාතී”ති.
“Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”
