Reading of Doha Verses of Jetsun Milarepa, Bodhi Gaya, India, February 3-7, 2026

From February 3-7, 2026, inside the MahaBodhi complex in Bodhi Gaya, Bihar, India, a program of reading the Doha Verses attributed to the great Tibetan Buddhist yogi Jetsun Milarepa is taking place.

Milarepa, The Great Tibetan Yogi.

Milarepa was a famous Buddhist yogi from the 11th-12th centuries, whose meditative practice in the uninhabited mountainous regions of Tibet, overcoming the lack of food and the cold of the Himalayas, became an ideal example to follow for all meditation practitioners in Tibet and beyond.

A disciple of Marpa the Translator, who brought to Tibet the Six Yogas of Naropa and the transmission of the practice of Mahamudra based on the teachings of the great Indian siddha Tilopa, Milarepa is revered as one of the founders of the Tibetan Buddhist Kargyu lineage.

Milarepa's songs have entered Tibetan popular culture, some being included in Tsangnyön Heruka's book "The Life of Milarepa", and others in the song collection called Gur Bum ("The Hundred Thousand Songs").

They contain profound teachings and have been, and continue to be, a source of inspiration for Buddhist practitioners throughout the centuries.
