Slanting to the Ocean
“සේය්යථාපි, භික්ඛවේ, ගඞ්ගා නදී සමුද්දනින්නා සමුද්දපෝණා සමුද්දපබ්භාරා; ඒවමේව ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛු අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං භාවේන්තෝ අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං බහුලීකරෝන්තෝ නිබ්බානනින්නෝ හෝති නිබ්බානපෝණෝ නිබ්බානපබ්භාරෝ.
“Bhikkhus, the Ganges river slants, slopes, and inclines to the ocean. In the same way, a bhikkhu who develops the noble eightfold path slants, slopes, and inclines to Nibbana. …”
කථඤ්ච, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛු අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං භාවේන්තෝ අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං බහුලීකරෝන්තෝ නිබ්බානනින්නෝ හෝති නිබ්බානපෝණෝ නිබ්බානපබ්භාරෝ? ඉධ, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛු සම්මාදිට්ඨිං භාවේති විවේකනිස්සිතං …පේ… සම්මාසමාධිං භාවේති විවේකනිස්සිතං විරාගනිස්සිතං නිරෝධනිස්සිතං වෝස්සග්ගපරිණාමිං. ඒවං ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛු අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං භාවේන්තෝ අරියං අට්ඨඞ්ගිකං මග්ගං බහුලීකරෝන්තෝ නිබ්බානනින්නෝ හෝති නිබ්බානපෝණෝ නිබ්බානපබ්භාරෝ”ති.
