តត្រ ខោ អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ ភិក្ខូ អាមន្តេសិ …បេ… “យោ ហិ កោចិ, អាវុសោ, បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, សព្ពោ សោ បញ្ចហិ ឋានេហិ, ឯតេសំ វា អញ្ញតរេន។ កតមេហិ បញ្ចហិ? មន្ទត្តា មោមូហត្តា បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, បាបិច្ឆោ ឥច្ឆាបកតោ បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, បរិភវំ បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, អញ្ញាតុកាមោ បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, អថ វា បនេវំចិត្តោ បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ: ‘សចេ មេ បញ្ហំ បុដ្ឋោ សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សតិ ឥច្ចេតំ កុសលំ, នោ ចេ មេ បញ្ហំ បុដ្ឋោ សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សតិ អហមស្ស សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សាមីៜតិ។ យោ ហិ កោចិ, អាវុសោ, បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆតិ, សព្ពោ សោ ឥមេហិ បញ្ចហិ ឋានេហិ, ឯតេសំ វា អញ្ញតរេន។ អហំ ខោ បនាវុសោ, ឯវំចិត្តោ បរំ បញ្ហំ បុច្ឆាមិ: ‘សចេ មេ បញ្ហំ បុដ្ឋោ សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សតិ ឥច្ចេតំ កុសលំ, នោ ចេ មេ បញ្ហំ បុដ្ឋោ សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សតិ, អហមស្ស សម្មទេវ ព្យាករិស្សាមីៜ”តិ។
There Venerable Sāriputta addressed the bhikkhus: … “Whoever asks a question of another, does so for one or other of these five reasons. What five? Someone asks a question of another from stupidity and folly. Or they ask from corrupt wishes, being of wishful temperament. Or they ask in order to disparage. Or they ask wanting to understand. Or they ask with the thought, ‘If they correctly answer the question I ask it’s good. If not, I’ll correctly answer it for them.’ Whoever asks a question of another, does so for one or other of these five reasons. As for myself, I ask with the thought, ‘If they correctly answer the question I ask it’s good. If not, I’ll correctly answer it for them.’”
