“සත්තන්නං, භික්ඛවේ, සංයෝජනානං පහානාය සමුච්ඡේදාය බ්රහ්මචරියං වුස්සති. කතමේසං සත්තන්නං? අනුනයසංයෝජනස්ස පහානාය සමුච්ඡේදාය බ්රහ්මචරියං වුස්සති, පටිඝසංයෝජනස්ස …පේ… දිට්ඨිසංයෝජනස්ස … විචිකිච්ඡාසංයෝජනස්ස … මානසංයෝජනස්ස … භවරාගසංයෝජනස්ස … අවිජ්ජාසංයෝජනස්ස පහානාය සමුච්ඡේදාය බ්රහ්මචරියං වුස්සති. ඉමේසං ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, සත්තන්නං සංයෝජනානං පහානාය සමුච්ඡේදාය බ්රහ්මචරියං වුස්සති. යතෝ ච ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛුනෝ අනුනයසංයෝජනං පහීනං හෝති උච්ඡින්නමූලං තාලාවත්ථුකතං අනභාවඞ්කතං ආයතිං අනුප්පාදධම්මං. පටිඝසංයෝජනං …පේ… දිට්ඨිසංයෝජනං … විචිකිච්ඡාසංයෝජනං … මානසංයෝජනං … භවරාගසංයෝජනං … අවිජ්ජාසංයෝජනං පහීනං හෝති උච්ඡින්නමූලං තාලාවත්ථුකතං අනභාවඞ්කතං ආයතිං අනුප්පාදධම්මං. අයං වුච්චති, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛු අච්ඡේච්ඡි තණ්හං, විවත්තයි සංයෝජනං, සම්මා මානාභිසමයා අන්තමකාසි දුක්ඛස්සා”ති.
“Bhikkhus, the spiritual life is lived to give up and cut out these seven fetters. What seven? The fetters of attraction, repulsion, views, doubt, conceit, desire to be reborn, and ignorance. The spiritual life is lived to give up and cut out these seven fetters. When a bhikkhu has given up the fetters of attraction, repulsion, views, doubt, conceit, desire to be reborn, and ignorance—cut them off at the root, made them like a palm stump, obliterated them, so they are unable to arise in the future—they’re called a bhikkhu who has cut off craving, untied the fetters, and by rightly comprehending conceit has made an end of suffering.”
