Cut How Many?
သာဝတ္ထိနိဒါနံ၊
At Sāvatthī.
ဧကမန္တံ ဌိတာ ခေါ သာ ဒေဝတာ ဘဂဝတော သန္တိကေ ဣမံ ဂါထံ အဘာသိ:
Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“ကတိ ဆိန္ဒေ ကတိ ဇဟေ, ကတိ စုတ္တရိ ဘာဝယေ; ကတိ သင်္ဂါတိဂေါ ဘိက္ခု, ဩဃတိဏ္ဏောတိ ဝုစ္စတီ”တိ၊
“Cut how many? Drop how many? Develop how many more? When a bhikkhu slips how many chains are they said to have crossed the flood?”
“ပဉ္စ ဆိန္ဒေ ပဉ္စ ဇဟေ, ပဉ္စ စုတ္တရိ ဘာဝယေ; ပဉ္စ သင်္ဂါတိဂေါ ဘိက္ခု, ဩဃတိဏ္ဏောတိ ဝုစ္စတီ”တိ၊
“Five to cut, five to drop, and five more to develop. When a bhikkhu slips five chains they’re said to have crossed the flood.”
