ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานสุตฺต
Extinguishment in the Present Life
“‘ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานํ ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานนฺ'ติ, อาวุโส, วุจฺจติฯ กิตฺตาวตา นุ โข, อาวุโส, ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานํ วุตฺตํ ภควตา”ติ?
“Friend, they speak of ‘Nibbana in the present life’. In what way did the Buddha speak of Nibbana in the present life?”
“อิธาวุโส, ภิกฺขุ วิวิจฺเจว กาเมหิ …เป… ปฐมํ ฌานํ อุปสมฺปชฺช วิหรติฯ เอตฺตาวตาปิ โข, อาวุโส, ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานํ วุตฺตํ ภควตา ปริยาเยน …เป…ฯ
“First, take a bhikkhu who, quite secluded from sensual pleasures … enters and remains in the first jhāna. To this extent the Buddha spoke of Nibbana in the present life in a qualified sense. …
ปุน จปรํ, อาวุโส, ภิกฺขุ สพฺพโส เนวสญฺญานาสญฺญายตนํ สมติกฺกมฺม สญฺญาเวทยิตนิโรธํ อุปสมฺปชฺช วิหรติ, ปญฺญาย จสฺส ทิสฺวา อาสวา ปริกฺขีณา โหนฺติฯ เอตฺตาวตาปิ โข, อาวุโส, ทิฏฺฐธมฺมนิพฺพานํ วุตฺตํ ภควตา นิปฺปริยาเยนา”ติฯ
Furthermore, take a bhikkhu who, going totally beyond the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, enters and remains in the cessation of perception and feeling. And, having seen with wisdom, their defilements come to an end. To this extent the Buddha spoke of Nibbana in the present life in a definitive sense.”

สมฺพาโธ กายสกฺขี ปญฺญา, อุภโตภาโค สนฺทิฏฺฐิกา เทฺว; นิพฺพานํ ปรินิพฺพานํ, ตทงฺคทิฏฺฐธมฺมิเกน จาติฯ
