ဗိဠာရသုတ္တ
A Cat
သာဝတ္ထိယံ ဝိဟရတိ၊
At Sāvatthī.
တေန ခေါ ပန သမယေန အညတရော ဘိက္ခု အတိဝေလံ ကုလေသု စာရိတ္တံ အာပဇ္ဇတိ၊
Now at that time a certain bhikkhu socialized with families too often.
တမေနံ ဘိက္ခူ ဧဝမာဟံသု: “မာယသ္မာ အတိဝေလံ ကုလေသု စာရိတ္တံ အာပဇ္ဇီ”တိ၊
The bhikkhus said to him, “Venerable, don’t socialize with families too often.”
သော ဘိက္ခု ဘိက္ခူဟိ ဝုစ္စမာနော န ဝိရမတိ၊
But that bhikkhu, when spoken to by the bhikkhus, did not stop.
အထ ခေါ သမ္ဗဟုလာ ဘိက္ခူ ယေန ဘဂဝါ တေနုပသင်္ကမိံသု; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ဘဂဝန္တံ အဘိဝါဒေတွာ ဧကမန္တံ နိသီဒိံသု၊ ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နာ ခေါ တေ ဘိက္ခူ ဘဂဝန္တံ ဧတဒဝေါစုံ: “ဣဓ, ဘန္တေ, အညတရော ဘိက္ခု အတိဝေလံ ကုလေသု စာရိတ္တံ အာပဇ္ဇတိ၊ တမေနံ ဘိက္ခူ ဧဝမာဟံသု: ‘မာယသ္မာ အတိဝေလံ ကုလေသု စာရိတ္တံ အာပဇ္ဇီ'တိ၊ သော ဘိက္ခု ဘိက္ခူဟိ ဝုစ္စမာနော န ဝိရမတီ”တိ၊
And then several bhikkhus went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and told him what had happened. The Buddha said:
“ဘူတပုဗ္ဗံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဗိဠာရော သန္ဓိသမလသင်္ကဋီရေ ဌိတော အဟောသိ မုဒုမူသိံ မဂ္ဂယမာနော: ‘ယဒါယံ မုဒုမူသိ ဂေါစရာယ ပက္ကမိဿတိ, တတ္ထေဝ နံ ဂဟေတွာ ခါဒိဿာမီ'တိ၊ အထ ခေါ သော, ဘိက္ခဝေ, မုဒုမူသိ ဂေါစရာယ ပက္ကာမိ၊ တမေနံ ဗိဠာရော ဂဟေတွာ သဟသာ သင်္ခါဒိတွာ အဇ္ဈောဟရိ၊ တဿ သော မုဒုမူသိ အန္တမ္ပိ ခါဒိ, အန္တဂုဏမ္ပိ ခါဒိ၊ သော တတောနိဒါနံ မရဏမ္ပိ နိဂစ္ဆိ မရဏမတ္တမ္ပိ ဒုက္ခံ၊
“Once upon a time, bhikkhus, a cat was standing by an alley or a drain or a dustbin hunting a little mouse, thinking, ‘When that little mouse comes out to feed, I’ll catch it right there and eat it!’ And then that little mouse came out to feed. The cat caught it and hastily swallowed it without chewing. But that little mouse ate its intestines and mesentery, resulting in death and deadly pain.
ဧဝမေဝ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣဓေကစ္စော ဘိက္ခု ပုဗ္ဗဏှသမယံ နိဝါသေတွာ ပတ္တစီဝရမာဒါယ ဂါမံ ဝါ နိဂမံ ဝါ ပိဏ္ဍာယ ပဝိသတိ အရက္ခိတေနေဝ ကာယေန အရက္ခိတာယ ဝါစာယ အရက္ခိတေန စိတ္တေန, အနုပဋ္ဌိတာယ သတိယာ, အသံဝုတေဟိ ဣန္ဒြိယေဟိ၊ သော တတ္ထ ပဿတိ မာတုဂါမံ ဒုန္နိဝတ္ထံ ဝါ ဒုပ္ပါရုတံ ဝါ၊ တဿ မာတုဂါမံ ဒိသွာ ဒုန္နိဝတ္ထံ ဝါ ဒုပ္ပါရုတံ ဝါ ရာဂေါ စိတ္တံ အနုဒ္ဓံသေတိ၊ သော ရာဂါနုဒ္ဓံသေန စိတ္တေန မရဏံ ဝါ နိဂစ္ဆတိ မရဏမတ္တံ ဝါ ဒုက္ခံ၊
In the same way, take a certain monk who robes up in the morning and, taking his bowl and robe, enters the village or town for alms without guarding body, speech, and mind, without establishing mindfulness, and without restraining the sense faculties. There he sees a female scantily clad, with revealing clothes. Lust infects his mind, resulting in death or deadly pain.
မရဏဉှေတံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အရိယဿ ဝိနယေ ယော သိက္ခံ ပစ္စက္ခာယ ဟီနာယာဝတ္တတိ၊ မရဏမတ္တဉှေတံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒုက္ခံ ယဒိဒံ အညတရံ သင်္ကိလိဋ္ဌံ အာပတ္တိံ အာပဇ္ဇတိ၊ ယထာရူပါယ အာပတ္တိယာ ဝုဋ္ဌာနံ ပညာယတိ၊
For it is death in the training of the Noble One to resign the training and return to a lesser life. And it is deadly pain to commit one of the corrupt offenses for which rehabilitation is possible.
တသ္မာတိဟ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧဝံ သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗံ: ‘ရက္ခိတေနေဝ ကာယေန ရက္ခိတာယ ဝါစာယ ရက္ခိတေန စိတ္တေန, ဥပဋ္ဌိတာယ သတိယာ, သံဝုတေဟိ ဣန္ဒြိယေဟိ ဂါမံ ဝါ နိဂမံ ဝါ ပိဏ္ဍာယ ပဝိသိဿာမာ'တိ၊ ဧဝဉှိ ဝေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိက္ခိတဗ္ဗန်”တိ၊
So you should train like this: ‘We will enter the village or town for alms guarding body, speech, and mind, establishing mindfulness, and restraining the sense faculties.’ That’s how you should train.”
