අස්සාජානීයසුත්ත
A Thoroughbred
“පඤ්චහි, භික්ඛවේ, අඞ්ගේහි සමන්නාගතෝ රඤ්ඤෝ භද්රෝ අස්සාජානීයෝ රාජාරහෝ හෝති රාජභෝග්ගෝ, රඤ්ඤෝ අඞ්ගන්ත්වේව සඞ්ඛං ගච්ඡති.
“Bhikkhus, a fine royal thoroughbred with five factors is worthy of a king, fit to serve a king, and is considered a factor of kingship.
කතමේහි පඤ්චහි? අජ්ජවේන, ජවේන, මද්දවේන, ඛන්තියා, සෝරච්චේන—ඉමේහි ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, පඤ්චහි අඞ්ගේහි සමන්නාගතෝ රඤ්ඤෝ භද්රෝ අස්සාජානීයෝ රාජාරහෝ හෝති රාජභෝග්ගෝ, රඤ්ඤෝ අඞ්ගන්ත්වේව සඞ්ඛං ගච්ඡති. ඒවමේවං ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, පඤ්චහි ධම්මේහි සමන්නාගතෝ භික්ඛු ආහුනේය්යෝ හෝති පාහුනේය්යෝ දක්ඛිණේය්යෝ අඤ්ජලිකරණීයෝ අනුත්තරං පුඤ්ඤක්ඛේත්තං ලෝකස්ස.
What five? Integrity, speed, gentleness, patience, and sweetness. A fine royal thoroughbred with these five factors is worthy of a king. … In the same way, a bhikkhu with five qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.
