สุญฺญตโลกสุตฺต
The World is Empty
อถ โข อายสฺมา อานนฺโท …เป… ภควนฺตํ เอตทโวจ:
And then Venerable Ānanda … said to the Buddha:
“‘สุญฺโญ โลโก, สุญฺโญ โลโก'ติ, ภนฺเต, วุจฺจติฯ กิตฺตาวตา นุ โข, ภนฺเต, สุญฺโญ โลโกติ วุจฺจตี”ติ?
“Sir, they say that ‘the world is empty’. What does the saying ‘the world is empty’ refer to?”
“ยสฺมา จ โข, อานนฺท, สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา ตสฺมา สุญฺโญ โลโกติ วุจฺจติฯ กิญฺจ, อานนฺท, สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา? จกฺขุ โข, อานนฺท, สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วาฯ รูปา สุญฺญา อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา, จกฺขุวิญฺญาณํ สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา, จกฺขุสมฺผโสฺส สุญฺโญ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา …เป…
“Ānanda, they say that ‘the world is empty’ because it’s empty of self or what belongs to self. And what is empty of self or what belongs to self? The eye, sights, eye consciousness, and eye contact are empty of self or what belongs to self. …
ยมฺปิทํ มโนสมฺผสฺสปจฺจยา อุปฺปชฺชติ เวทยิตํ สุขํ วา ทุกฺขํ วา อทุกฺขมสุขํ วา ตมฺปิ สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วาฯ ยสฺมา จ โข, อานนฺท, สุญฺญํ อตฺเตน วา อตฺตนิเยน วา, ตสฺมา สุญฺโญ โลโกติ วุจฺจตี”ติฯ
The pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is also empty of self or what belongs to self. They say that ‘the world is empty’ because it’s empty of self or what belongs to self.”
