Extinguishment Is Visible in This Very Life
“‘សន្ទិដ្ឋិកំ និព្ពានំ, សន្ទិដ្ឋិកំ និព្ពានន៑ៜតិ, អាវុសោ, វុច្ចតិ។ កិត្តាវតា នុ ខោ, អាវុសោ, សន្ទិដ្ឋិកំ និព្ពានំ វុត្តំ ភគវតា”តិ?
“Friend, they say that ‘Nibbana is apparent in the present life’. In what way did the Buddha say Nibbana is apparent in the present life?”
“ឥធាវុសោ, ភិក្ខុ វិវិច្ចេវ កាមេហិ …បេ… បឋមំ ឈានំ ឧបសម្បជ្ជ វិហរតិ។ ឯត្តាវតាបិ ខោ, អាវុសោ, សន្ទិដ្ឋិកំ និព្ពានំ វុត្តំ ភគវតា បរិយាយេន …បេ…។
“First, take a bhikkhu who, quite secluded from sensual pleasures … enters and remains in the first jhāna. To this extent the Buddha said that Nibbana is apparent in the present life in a qualified sense. …
បុន ចបរំ, អាវុសោ, ភិក្ខុ សព្ពសោ នេវសញ្ញានាសញ្ញាយតនំ សមតិក្កម្ម សញ្ញាវេទយិតនិរោធំ ឧបសម្បជ្ជ វិហរតិ, បញ្ញាយ ចស្ស ទិស្វា អាសវា បរិក្ខីណា ហោន្តិ។ ឯត្តាវតាបិ ខោ, អាវុសោ, សន្ទិដ្ឋិកំ និព្ពានំ វុត្តំ ភគវតា និប្បរិយាយេនា”តិ។
Furthermore, take a bhikkhu who, going totally beyond the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, enters and remains in the cessation of perception and feeling. And, having seen with wisdom, their defilements come to an end. To this extent the Buddha said that Nibbana is apparent in the present life in a definitive sense.”
