14. A Warrior
បឋមមោរនិវាបសុត្ត
At the Peacocks’ Feeding Ground (1st)
ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា រាជគហេ វិហរតិ មោរនិវាបេ បរិព្ពាជការាមេ។ តត្រ ខោ ភគវា ភិក្ខូ អាមន្តេសិ: “ភិក្ខវោ”តិ។
At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, at the monastery of the wanderers in the peacocks’ feeding ground. There the Buddha addressed the bhikkhus, “Bhikkhus!”
“ភទន្តេ”តិ តេ ភិក្ខូ ភគវតោ បច្ចស្សោសុំ។ ភគវា ឯតទវោច:
“Venerable sir,” they replied. The Buddha said this:
“តីហិ, ភិក្ខវេ, ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ ភិក្ខុ អច្ចន្តនិដ្ឋោ ហោតិ អច្ចន្តយោគក្ខេមី អច្ចន្តព្រហ្មចារី អច្ចន្តបរិយោសានោ សេដ្ឋោ ទេវមនុស្សានំ។ កតមេហិ តីហិ? អសេក្ខេន សីលក្ខន្ធេន, អសេក្ខេន សមាធិក្ខន្ធេន, អសេក្ខេន បញ្ញាក្ខន្ធេន។
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans. What three? The entire spectrum of an adept’s ethics, samādhi, and wisdom.
ឥមេហិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, តីហិ ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ ភិក្ខុ អច្ចន្តនិដ្ឋោ ហោតិ អច្ចន្តយោគក្ខេមី អច្ចន្តព្រហ្មចារី អច្ចន្តបរិយោសានោ សេដ្ឋោ ទេវមនុស្សានន៑”តិ។
A bhikkhu with these three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans.”
