Paṭhamabhayasutta
Perils (1st)
“चत्तारिमानि, भिक्खवे, भयानि। कतमानि चत्तारि? जातिभयं, जराभयं, ब्याधिभयं, मरणभयं—
“Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, bhayāni. Katamāni cattāri? Jātibhayaṁ, jarābhayaṁ, byādhibhayaṁ, maraṇabhayaṁ—
“Bhikkhus, there are these four perils. What four? The perils of rebirth, old age, sickness, and death.
इमानि खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारि भयानी”ति।
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri bhayānī”ti.
These are the four perils.”
