Living With Self-Assurance
“ปญฺจหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต มาตุคาโม วิสารโท อคารํ อชฺฌาวสติฯ กตเมหิ ปญฺจหิ? ปาณาติปาตา ปฏิวิรโต จ โหติ, อทินฺนาทานา ปฏิวิรโต จ โหติ, กาเมสุมิจฺฉาจารา ปฏิวิรโต จ โหติ, มุสาวาทา ปฏิวิรโต จ โหติ, สุราเมรยมชฺชปฺปมาทฏฺฐานา ปฏิวิรโต จ โหติ—อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต มาตุคาโม วิสารโท อคารํ อชฺฌาวสตี”ติฯ
“Bhikkhus, a female living at home with five qualities is self-assured. What five? She doesn’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or consume alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. A female living at home with these five qualities is self-assured.”
