නාළන්දසුත්ත
At Nāḷandā
ඒකං සමයං භගවා නාළන්දායං විහරති පාවාරිකම්බවනේ.
At one time the Buddha was staying near Nāḷandā in Pāvārika’s mango grove.
අථ ඛෝ, උපාලි ගහපති, යේන භගවා තේනුපසඞ්කමි …පේ… ඒකමන්තං නිසින්නෝ ඛෝ, උපාලි ගහපති, භගවන්තං ඒතදවෝච: “කෝ නු ඛෝ, භන්තේ, හේතු, කෝ පච්චයෝ යේන ම්(අ)ඉධේකච්චේ සත්තා දිට්ඨේව ධම්මේ නෝ පරිනිබ්බායන්ති? කෝ පන, භන්තේ, හේතු, කෝ පච්චයෝ යේන ම්(අ)ඉධේකච්චේ සත්තා දිට්ඨේව ධම්මේ පරිනිබ්බායන්තී”ති?
Then the householder Upāli went up to the Buddha … and asked him, “What is the cause, sir, what is the reason why some sentient beings aren’t fully extinguished in the present life? What is the cause, sir, what is the reason why some sentient beings are fully extinguished in the present life?” …
(යථා පුරිමසුත්තන්තං, ඒවං විත්ථාරේතබ්බං.)

“අයං ඛෝ, ගහපති, හේතු අයං පච්චයෝ යේන ම්(අ)ඉධේකච්චේ සත්තා දිට්ඨේව ධම්මේ පරිනිබ්බායන්තී”ති.
