ဧဝံ မေ သုတံ—ဧကံ သမယံ ဘဂဝါ ရာဇဂဟေ ဝိဟရတိ ဝေဠုဝနေ ကလန္ဒကနိဝါပေ၊
So I have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, in the Bamboo Grove, the squirrels’ feeding ground.
အထ ခေါ သောဏော ဂဟပတိပုတ္တော ယေန ဘဂဝါ တေနုပသင်္ကမိ; ဥပသင်္ကမိတွာ ဘဂဝန္တံ အဘိဝါဒေတွာ ဧကမန္တံ နိသီဒိ၊ ဧကမန္တံ နိသိန္နံ ခေါ သောဏံ ဂဟပတိပုတ္တံ ဘဂဝါ ဧတဒဝေါစ:
Then the householder Soṇa went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side. The Buddha said to him:
“ယေ ဟိ ကေစိ, သောဏ, သမဏာ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏာ ဝါ ရူပံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပသမုဒယံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပနိရောဓံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ; ဝေဒနံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝေဒနာသမုဒယံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝေဒနာနိရောဓံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝေဒနာနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ; သညံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ …ပေ… သင်္ခါရေ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, သင်္ခါရသမုဒယံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, သင်္ခါရနိရောဓံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, သင်္ခါရနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ; ဝိညာဏံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏသမုဒယံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏနိရောဓံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ နပ္ပဇာနန္တိ၊ န မေ တေ, သောဏ, သမဏာ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏာ ဝါ သမဏေသု ဝါ သမဏသမ္မတာ ဗြာဟ္မဏေသု ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏသမ္မတာ, န စ ပန တေ အာယသ္မန္တော သာမညတ္ထံ ဝါ ဗြဟ္မညတ္ထံ ဝါ ဒိဋ္ဌေဝ ဓမ္မေ သယံ အဘိညာ သစ္ဆိကတွာ ဥပသမ္ပဇ္ဇ ဝိဟရန္တိ၊
“Soṇa, there are ascetics and brahmins who don’t understand form, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation. They don’t understand feeling … perception … functioning patterns … consciousness, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation. I don’t deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables don’t realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and don’t live having realized it with their own insight.
ယေ စ ခေါ ကေစိ, သောဏ, သမဏာ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏာ ဝါ ရူပံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပသမုဒယံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပနိရောဓံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ရူပနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ ပဇာနန္တိ; ဝေဒနံ ပဇာနန္တိ …ပေ… သညံ ပဇာနန္တိ … သင်္ခါရေ ပဇာနန္တိ … ဝိညာဏံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏသမုဒယံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏနိရောဓံ ပဇာနန္တိ, ဝိညာဏနိရောဓဂါမိနိံ ပဋိပဒံ ပဇာနန္တိ၊ တေ စ ခေါ မေ, သောဏ, သမဏာ ဝါ ဗြာဟ္မဏာ ဝါ သမဏေသု စေဝ သမဏသမ္မတာ ဗြာဟ္မဏေသု စ ဗြာဟ္မဏသမ္မတာ, တေ စ ပနာယသ္မန္တော သာမညတ္ထဉ္စ ဗြဟ္မညတ္ထဉ္စ ဒိဋ္ဌေဝ ဓမ္မေ သယံ အဘိညာ သစ္ဆိကတွာ ဥပသမ္ပဇ္ဇ ဝိဟရန္တီ”တိ၊
There are ascetics and brahmins who do understand form, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation. They do understand feeling … perception … functioning patterns … consciousness, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation. I deem them as true ascetics and brahmins.
