Awakening Factors
“සත්ත වෝ, භික්ඛවේ, අපරිහානියේ ධම්මේ දේසේස්සාමි. තං සුණාථ, සාධුකං මනසි කරෝථ …පේ… කතමේ ච, භික්ඛවේ, සත්ත අපරිහානියා ධම්මා? යාවකීවඤ්ච, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛූ සතිසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති; වුද්ධියේව, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛූනං පාටිකඞ්ඛා, නෝ පරිහානි. යාවකීවඤ්ච, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛූ ධම්මවිචයසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති …පේ… වීරියසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති … පීතිසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති … පස්සද්ධිසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති … සමාධිසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති … උපේක්ඛාසම්බෝජ්ඣඞ්ගං භාවේස්සන්ති; වුද්ධියේව, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛූනං පාටිකඞ්ඛා, නෝ පරිහානි.
“Bhikkhus, I will teach you seven principles that prevent decline. Listen and apply your mind well … And what are the seven principles that prevent decline? As long as the bhikkhus develop the awakening factor of mindfulness … investigation of principles … energy … (mental) joy … tranquility … samādhi … equanimity, they can expect growth, not decline.
යාවකීවඤ්ච, භික්ඛවේ, ඉමේ සත්ත අපරිහානියා ධම්මා භික්ඛූසු ඨස්සන්ති, ඉමේසු ච සත්තසු අපරිහානියේසු ධම්මේසු භික්ඛූ සන්දිස්සිස්සන්ති; වුද්ධියේව, භික්ඛවේ, භික්ඛූනං පාටිකඞ්ඛා, නෝ පරිහානී”ති.
As long as these seven principles that prevent decline last among the bhikkhus, and as long as the bhikkhus are seen following them, they can expect growth, not decline.”
