The Cosmos Is Not Eternal
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
“កិស្មិំ នុ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សតិ, កិំ ឧបាទាយ, កិំ អភិនិវិស្ស ឯវំ ទិដ្ឋិ ឧប្បជ្ជតិ: ‘អសស្សតោ លោកោៜ”តិ?
“Bhikkhus, when what exists, because of grasping what and insisting on what, does the view arise: ‘The cosmos is not eternal’?”
“ភគវំមូលកា នោ, ភន្តេ, ធម្មា …បេ…
“Our teachings are rooted in the Buddha. …”
“រូបេ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សតិ …បេ… វិញ្ញាណំ និច្ចំ វា អនិច្ចំ វា”តិ? “អនិច្ចំ, ភន្តេ” …បេ…
“When form exists …” …
អបិ នុ តំ អនុបាទាយ ឯវំ ទិដ្ឋិ ឧប្បជ្ជេយ្យ: ‘អសស្សតោ លោកោៜ”តិ? “នោ ហេតំ, ភន្តេ”។ “យម្បិទំ ទិដ្ឋំ សុតំ មុតំ វិញ្ញាតំ បត្តំ បរិយេសិតំ អនុវិចរិតំ មនសា តម្បិ និច្ចំ វា អនិច្ចំ វា”តិ? “អនិច្ចំ, ភន្តេ …បេ…
អបិ នុ តំ អនុបាទាយ ឯវំ ទិដ្ឋិ ឧប្បជ្ជេយ្យ: ‘អសស្សតោ លោកោៜ”តិ?
“But by not grasping what’s impermanent, suffering, and perishable, would such a view arise?”
“នោ ហេតំ, ភន្តេ”។
“No, sir.”
“យតោ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អរិយសាវកស្ស ឥមេសុ ច ឋានេសុ កង្ខា បហីនា ហោតិ, ទុក្ខេបិស្ស កង្ខា បហីនា ហោតិ …បេ… ទុក្ខនិរោធគាមិនិយា បដិបទាយបិស្ស កង្ខា បហីនា ហោតិ—អយំ វុច្ចតិ, ភិក្ខវេ, អរិយសាវកោ សោតាបន្នោ អវិនិបាតធម្មោ និយតោ សម្ពោធិបរាយនោ”តិ។
“When a noble disciple has given up doubt in these six cases, and has given up doubt in suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation, they’re called a noble disciple who is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.”
