សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ។
At Sāvatthī.
“សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, បុរិសោ សិនេរុស្ស បព្ពតរាជស្ស សត្ត មុគ្គមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិបេយ្យ។
“Bhikkhus, suppose a person was to place down on Sineru, the king of mountains, seven pebbles the size of mung beans.
តំ កិំ មញ្ញថ, ភិក្ខវេ, កតមំ នុ ខោ ពហុតរំ, យា វា សត្ត មុគ្គមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា យោ វា សិនេរុ បព្ពតរាជា”តិ?
What do you think, bhikkhus? Which is more: the seven pebbles the size of mung beans, or Sineru, the king of mountains?”
“ឯតទេវ, ភន្តេ, ពហុតរំ យទិទំ សិនេរុ បព្ពតរាជា; អប្បមត្តិកា សត្ត មុគ្គមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា។ នេវ សតិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ ន សតសហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេន្តិ សិនេរុំ បព្ពតរាជានំ ឧបនិធាយ សត្ត មុគ្គមត្តិយោ បាសាណសក្ខរា ឧបនិក្ខិត្តា”តិ។
“Sir, Sineru, the king of mountains, is certainly more. The seven pebbles the size of mung beans are tiny. Compared to Sineru, it’s not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part.”
“ឯវមេវ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អរិយសាវកស្ស ទិដ្ឋិសម្បន្នស្ស បុគ្គលស្ស អធិគមំ ឧបនិធាយ អញ្ញតិត្ថិយសមណព្រាហ្មណបរិព្ពាជកានំ អធិគមោ នេវ សតិមំ កលំ ឧបេតិ ន សហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេតិ ន សតសហស្សិមំ កលំ ឧបេតិ។ ឯវំ មហាធិគមោ, ភិក្ខវេ, ទិដ្ឋិសម្បន្នោ បុគ្គលោ, ឯវំ មហាភិញ្ញោ”តិ។
“In the same way, compared with the achievements of a noble disciple accomplished in view, the achievements of the ascetics, brahmins, and wanderers of other religions is not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part. So great is the achievement of the person accomplished in view, so great is their direct knowledge.”
