“จตูหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ นิรเยฯ กตเมหิ จตูหิ? อนนุวิจฺจ อปริโยคาเหตฺวา อวณฺณารหสฺส วณฺณํ ภาสติ, อนนุวิจฺจ อปริโยคาเหตฺวา วณฺณารหสฺส อวณฺณํ ภาสติ, อนนุวิจฺจ อปริโยคาเหตฺวา อปฺปสาทนีเย ฐาเน ปสาทํ อุปทํเสติ, อนนุวิจฺจ อปริโยคาเหตฺวา ปสาทนีเย ฐาเน อปฺปสาทํ อุปทํเสติ—อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตูหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ นิรเยฯ
“Bhikkhus, someone with four qualities is cast down to hell. What four? Without examining or scrutinizing, they praise those deserving of criticism, and they criticize those deserving of praise. They arouse faith in things that are dubious, and they don’t arouse faith in things that are inspiring. Someone with these four qualities is cast down to hell.
จตูหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ สคฺเคฯ กตเมหิ จตูหิ? อนุวิจฺจ ปริโยคาเหตฺวา อวณฺณารหสฺส อวณฺณํ ภาสติ, อนุวิจฺจ ปริโยคาเหตฺวา วณฺณารหสฺส วณฺณํ ภาสติ, อนุวิจฺจ ปริโยคาเหตฺวา อปฺปสาทนีเย ฐาเน อปฺปสาทํ อุปทํเสติ อนุวิจฺจ ปริโยคาเหตฺวา ปสาทนีเย ฐาเน ปสาทํ อุปทํเสติ—อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, จตูหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต ยถาภตํ นิกฺขิตฺโต เอวํ สคฺเค”ติฯ
Someone with four qualities is raised up to heaven. What four? After examining and scrutinizing, they criticize those deserving of criticism, and they praise those deserving of praise. They don’t arouse faith in things that are dubious, and they do arouse faith in things that are inspiring. Someone with these four qualities is raised up to heaven.”
