“ฉหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สุณนฺโตปิ สทฺธมฺมํ อภพฺโพ นิยามํ โอกฺกมิตุํ กุสเลสุ ธมฺเมสุ สมฺมตฺตํฯ กตเมหิ ฉหิ? ตถาคตปฺปเวทิเต ธมฺมวินเย เทสิยมาเน น สุสฺสูสติ, น โสตํ โอทหติ, น อญฺญา จิตฺตํ อุปฏฺฐาเปติ, อนตฺถํ คณฺหาติ, อตฺถํ ริญฺจติ, อนนุโลมิกาย ขนฺติยา สมนฺนาคโต โหติฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ฉหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สุณนฺโตปิ สทฺธมฺมํ อภพฺโพ นิยามํ โอกฺกมิตุํ กุสเลสุ ธมฺเมสุ สมฺมตฺตํฯ
“Bhikkhus, someone with six qualities is unable to enter the sure path with regards to skillful qualities even when listening to the true teaching. What six? When the teaching and practice proclaimed by the Realized One is being taught they don’t want to listen. They don’t actively listen or try to understand. They learn the incorrect meaning and reject the correct meaning. They accept views that contradict the teaching. Someone with these six qualities is unable to enter the sure path with regards to skillful qualities, even when listening to the true teaching.
ฉหิ, ภิกฺขเว, ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สุณนฺโต สทฺธมฺมํ ภพฺโพ นิยามํ โอกฺกมิตุํ กุสเลสุ ธมฺเมสุ สมฺมตฺตํฯ กตเมหิ ฉหิ? ตถาคตปฺปเวทิเต ธมฺมวินเย เทสิยมาเน สุสฺสูสติ, โสตํ โอทหติ, อญฺญา จิตฺตํ อุปฏฺฐาเปติ, อตฺถํ คณฺหาติ, อนตฺถํ ริญฺจติ, อนุโลมิกาย ขนฺติยา สมนฺนาคโต โหติฯ อิเมหิ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ฉหิ ธมฺเมหิ สมนฺนาคโต สุณนฺโต สทฺธมฺมํ ภพฺโพ นิยามํ โอกฺกมิตุํ กุสเลสุ ธมฺเมสุ สมฺมตฺตนฺ”ติฯ
Someone with six qualities is able to enter the sure path with regards to skillful qualities when listening to the true teaching. What six? When the teaching and practice proclaimed by the Realized One is being taught they want to listen. They actively listen and try to understand. They learn the correct meaning and reject the incorrect meaning. They accept views that agree with the teaching.
