Paññāvuddhisutta

The Growth of Wisdom

“चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, धम्मा पञ्ञावुद्धिया संवत्तन्ति। कतमे चत्तारो? सप्पुरिससंसेवो, सद्धम्मसवनं, योनिसोमनसिकारो, धम्मानुधम्मप्पटिपत्ति—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो धम्मा पञ्ञावुद्धिया संवत्तन्ती”ति।

“Cattārome, bhikkhave, dhammā paññāvuddhiyā saṁvattanti. Katame cattāro? Sappurisasaṁsevo, saddhammasavanaṁ, yonisomanasikāro, dhammānudhammappaṭipatti—Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro dhammā paññāvuddhiyā saṁvattantī”ti.

“Bhikkhus, these four things lead to the growth of wisdom. What four? Associating with good people, listening to the true teaching, rational application of mind, and practicing in line with the teaching. These four things lead to the growth of wisdom.”
