Thūpārahasutta

Worthy of a Monument

“चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, थूपारहा। कतमे चत्तारो? तथागतो अरहं सम्मासम्बुद्धो थूपारहो, पच्चेकबुद्धो थूपारहो, तथागतसावको थूपारहो, राजा चक्कवत्ती थूपारहो—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो थूपारहा”ति।

“Cattārome, bhikkhave, thūpārahā. Katame cattāro? Tathāgato arahaṁ sammāsambuddho thūpāraho, paccekabuddho thūpāraho, tathāgatasāvako thūpāraho, rājā cakkavattī thūpāraho—Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro thūpārahā”ti.

“Bhikkhus, these four are worthy of a monument. What four? A Realized One, a perfected one, a fully awakened Buddha; an independent Buddha; a disciple of a Realized One; and a wheel-turning monarch. These four are worthy of a monument.”
