About Māra
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ អាយស្មា រាធោ ភគវន្តំ ឯតទវោច:
Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:
“‘មារោ, មារោៜតិ, ភន្តេ, វុច្ចតិ។ កតមោ នុ ខោ, ភន្តេ, មារោ”តិ?
“Sir, they speak of this thing called ‘Māra’. How is Māra defined?”
“រូបំ ខោ, រាធ, មារោ, វេទនា មារោ, សញ្ញា មារោ, សង្ខារា មារោ, វិញ្ញាណំ មារោ។
“Rādha, form is Māra, feeling is Māra, perception is Māra, functioning patterns are Māra, consciousness is Māra.
ឯវំ បស្សំ, រាធ, សុតវា អរិយសាវកោ រូបស្មិម្បិ និព្ពិន្ទតិ, វេទនាយបិ និព្ពិន្ទតិ, សញ្ញាយបិ និព្ពិន្ទតិ, សង្ខារេសុបិ និព្ពិន្ទតិ, វិញ្ញាណស្មិម្បិ និព្ពិន្ទតិ។ និព្ពិន្ទំ វិរជ្ជតិ; វិរាគា វិមុច្ចតិ។ វិមុត្តស្មិំ វិមុត្តមិតិ ញាណំ ហោតិ។
Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with form, feeling, perception, functioning patterns, and consciousness. Being disillusioned, desire fades away. When desire fades away they’re freed. When they’re freed, they know they’re freed.
‘ខីណា ជាតិ, វុសិតំ ព្រហ្មចរិយំ, កតំ ករណីយំ, នាបរំ ឥត្ថត្តាយាៜតិ បជានាតី”តិ។
They understand: ‘Rebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is no return to any state of existence.’”
