Cut How Many?
សាវត្ថិនិទានំ។
At Sāvatthī.
ឯកមន្តំ ឋិតា ខោ សា ទេវតា ភគវតោ សន្តិកេ ឥមំ គាថំ អភាសិ:
Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“កតិ ឆិន្ទេ កតិ ជហេ, កតិ ចុត្តរិ ភាវយេ; កតិ សង្គាតិគោ ភិក្ខុ, ឱឃតិណ្ណោតិ វុច្ចតី”តិ។
“Cut how many? Drop how many? Develop how many more? When a bhikkhu slips how many chains are they said to have crossed the flood?”
“បញ្ច ឆិន្ទេ បញ្ច ជហេ, បញ្ច ចុត្តរិ ភាវយេ; បញ្ច សង្គាតិគោ ភិក្ខុ, ឱឃតិណ្ណោតិ វុច្ចតី”តិ។
“Five to cut, five to drop, and five more to develop. When a bhikkhu slips five chains they’re said to have crossed the flood.”
