Walking Together
ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា រាជគហេ វិហរតិ គិជ្ឈកូដេ បព្ពតេ។ តេន ខោ បន សមយេន អាយស្មា សារិបុត្តោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ មហាមោគ្គល្លានោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ មហាកស្សបោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ អនុរុទ្ធោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ បុណ្ណោ មន្តានិបុត្តោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ ឧបាលិ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; អាយស្មាបិ ខោ អានន្ទោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ; ទេវទត្តោបិ ខោ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ភគវតោ អវិទូរេ ចង្កមតិ។
At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, on the Vulture’s Peak Mountain. Now at that time Venerable Sāriputta was walking together with several bhikkhus not far from the Buddha. Venerable Mahāmoggallāna was doing likewise, as were Venerable Mahākassapa, Venerable Anuruddha, Venerable Puṇṇa son of Mantāṇī, Venerable Upāli, Venerable Ānanda, and Devadatta.
អថ ខោ ភគវា ភិក្ខូ អាមន្តេសិ: “បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, សារិបុត្តំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
Then the Buddha said to the bhikkhus, “Bhikkhus, do you see Sāriputta walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ មហាបញ្ញា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, មោគ្គល្លានំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus have great wisdom. Do you see Moggallāna walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ មហិទ្ធិកា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, កស្សបំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus have great psychic power. Do you see Kassapa walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ ធុតវាទា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, អនុរុទ្ធំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus advocate austerities. Do you see Anuruddha walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ ទិព្ពចក្ខុកា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, បុណ្ណំ មន្តានិបុត្តំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus have clairvoyance. Do you see Puṇṇa son of Mantāṇī walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ ធម្មកថិកា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ឧបាលិំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus are Dhamma speakers. Do you see Upāli walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ វិនយធរា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, អានន្ទំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus are experts in monastic law. Do you see Ānanda walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ ពហុស្សុតា។ បស្សថ នោ តុម្ហេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ទេវទត្តំ សម្ពហុលេហិ ភិក្ខូហិ សទ្ធិំ ចង្កមន្តន៑”តិ?
“All of those bhikkhus are very learned. Do you see Devadatta walking together with several bhikkhus?”
“ឯវំ, ភន្តេ”។
“Yes, sir.”
“សព្ពេ ខោ ឯតេ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខូ បាបិច្ឆា។
“All of those bhikkhus have corrupt wishes.
ធាតុសោវ, ភិក្ខវេ, សត្តា សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ។ ហីនាធិមុត្តិកា ហីនាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ; កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកា កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ។
Sentient beings come together and converge because of an element. Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.
អតីតម្បិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អទ្ធានំ ធាតុសោវ សត្តា សំសន្ទិំសុ សមិំសុ។ ហីនាធិមុត្តិកា ហីនាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទិំសុ សមិំសុ; កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកា កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទិំសុ សមិំសុ។ អនាគតម្បិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អទ្ធានំ ធាតុសោវ សត្តា សំសន្ទិស្សន្តិ សមេស្សន្តិ។ ហីនាធិមុត្តិកា ហីនាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទិស្សន្តិ សមេស្សន្តិ; កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកា កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទិស្សន្តិ សមេស្សន្តិ។ ឯតរហិបិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, បច្ចុប្បន្នំ អទ្ធានំ ធាតុសោវ សត្តា សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ។ ហីនាធិមុត្តិកា ហីនាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តិ; កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកា កល្យាណាធិមុត្តិកេហិ សទ្ធិំ សំសន្ទន្តិ សមេន្តី”តិ។
In the past, in the future, and also in the present, sentient beings come together and converge because of an element. Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.”
