तपनीयसुत्त

Tapanīyasutta

Mortifying

“तपनीयञ्च वो, भिक्खवे, धम्मं देसेस्सामि अतपनीयञ्च। तं सुणाथ …पे… कतमो च, भिक्खवे, तपनीयो धम्मो? मिच्छादिट्ठि …पे… मिच्छाविमुत्ति—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, तपनीयो धम्मो। कतमो च, भिक्खवे, अतपनीयो धम्मो? सम्मादिट्ठि …पे… सम्माविमुत्ति—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, अतपनीयो धम्मो”ति।

“Tapanīyañca vo, bhikkhave, dhammaṁ desessāmi atapanīyañca. Taṁ suṇātha …pe… katamo ca, bhikkhave, tapanīyo dhammo? Micchādiṭṭhi …pe… micchāvimutti—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, tapanīyo dhammo. Katamo ca, bhikkhave, atapanīyo dhammo? Sammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāvimutti—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, atapanīyo dhammo”ti.

“I will teach you the mortifying principle and the unmortifying. … And what is the mortifying principle? Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, wrong samādhi, wrong knowledge, and wrong freedom. This is called the mortifying principle. And what is the unmortifying principle? Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right samādhi, right knowledge, and right freedom. This is called the unmortifying principle.”
