Subtlety
“စတ္တာရိမာနိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သောခုမ္မာနိ၊ ကတမာနိ စတ္တာရိ?
“Bhikkhus, there are these four kinds of subtlety. What four?
ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဘိက္ခု ရူပသောခုမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ ပရမေန; တေန စ ရူပသောခုမ္မေန အညံ ရူပသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န သမနုပဿတိ; တေန စ ရူပသောခုမ္မေန အညံ ရူပသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န ပတ္ထေတိ၊
A bhikkhu has ultimate subtlety of form. They don’t see any other subtlety of form that’s better or finer than that, nor do they aim for it.
ဝေဒနာသောခုမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ ပရမေန; တေန စ ဝေဒနာသောခုမ္မေန အညံ ဝေဒနာသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န သမနုပဿတိ; တေန စ ဝေဒနာသောခုမ္မေန အညံ ဝေဒနာသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န ပတ္ထေတိ၊
A bhikkhu has ultimate subtlety of feeling. They don’t see any other subtlety of feeling that’s better or finer than that, nor do they aim for it.
သညာသောခုမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ ပရမေန; တေန စ သညာသောခုမ္မေန အညံ သညာသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န သမနုပဿတိ; တေန စ သညာသောခုမ္မေန အညံ သညာသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န ပတ္ထေတိ၊
A bhikkhu has ultimate subtlety of perception. They don’t see any other subtlety of perception that’s better or finer than that, nor do they aim for it.
သင်္ခါရသောခုမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ ပရမေန; တေန စ သင်္ခါရသောခုမ္မေန အညံ သင်္ခါရသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န သမနုပဿတိ; တေန စ သင်္ခါရသောခုမ္မေန အညံ သင်္ခါရသောခုမ္မံ ဥတ္တရိတရံ ဝါ ပဏီတတရံ ဝါ န ပတ္ထေတိ၊
A bhikkhu has ultimate subtlety of functioning patterns. They don’t see any other subtlety of functioning patterns that’s better or finer than that, nor do they aim for it.
ဣမာနိ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, စတ္တာရိ သောခုမ္မာနီတိ၊
These are the four kinds of subtlety.
ရူပသောခုမ္မတံ ဉတွာ, ဝေဒနာနဉ္စ သမ္ဘဝံ; သညာ ယတော သမုဒေတိ, အတ္ထံ ဂစ္ဆတိ ယတ္ထ စ; သင်္ခါရေ ပရတော ဉတွာ, ဒုက္ခတော နော စ အတ္တတော၊
Knowing the subtlety of form, the cause of feelings, where perception comes from, and where it ends; and knowing functioning patterns as other, as suffering and as not-self,
သ ဝေ သမ္မဒ္ဒသော ဘိက္ခု, သန္တော သန္တိပဒေ ရတော; ဓာရေတိ အန္တိမံ ဒေဟံ, ဇေတွာ မာရံ သဝါဟိနိန်”တိ၊
that bhikkhu sees rightly, peaceful, in love with the state of peace. They bear their final body, having vanquished Māra and his mount.”
