25. Bad Conduct
သိဝထိကသုတ္တ
A Charnel Ground
“ပဉ္စိမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, အာဒီနဝါ သိဝထိကာယ၊ ကတမေ ပဉ္စ?
“Bhikkhus, there are these five drawbacks to a charnel ground. What five?
အသုစိ, ဒုဂ္ဂန္ဓာ, သပ္ပဋိဘယာ, ဝါဠာနံ အမနုဿာနံ အာဝါသော, ဗဟုနော ဇနဿ အာရောဒနာ—ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စ အာဒီနဝါ သိဝထိကာယ၊
It’s filthy, stinking, frightening, a gathering place for savage monsters, and a weeping place for many people. These are the five drawbacks of a charnel ground.
ဧဝမေဝံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စိမေ အာဒီနဝါ သိဝထိကူပမေ ပုဂ္ဂလေ၊ ကတမေ ပဉ္စ? ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဧကစ္စော ပုဂ္ဂလော အသုစိနာ ကာယကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ; အသုစိနာ ဝစီကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ; အသုစိနာ မနောကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော ဟောတိ၊ ဣဒမဿ အသုစိတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိဝထိကာ အသုစိ; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
In the same way there are five drawbacks of a person like a charnel ground. What five? To start with, some person has filthy conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. This is how they’re filthy, I say. That person is just as filthy as a charnel ground.
တဿ အသုစိနာ ကာယကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတဿ, အသုစိနာ ဝစီကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတဿ, အသုစိနာ မနောကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတဿ ပါပကော ကိတ္တိသဒ္ဒေါ အဗ္ဘုဂ္ဂစ္ဆတိ၊ ဣဒမဿ ဒုဂ္ဂန္ဓတာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိဝထိကာ ဒုဂ္ဂန္ဓာ; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
Because of their filthy conduct, they get a bad reputation. This is how they’re stinky, I say. That person is just as stinky as a charnel ground.
တမေနံ အသုစိနာ ကာယကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ, အသုစိနာ ဝစီကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ, အသုစိနာ မနောကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ ပေသလာ သဗြဟ္မစာရီ အာရကာ ပရိဝဇ္ဇန္တိ၊ ဣဒမဿ သပ္ပဋိဘယသ္မိံ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိဝထိကာ သပ္ပဋိဘယာ; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
Because of their filthy conduct, good-hearted spiritual companions avoid them from afar. That’s how they’re frightening, I say. That person is just as frightening as a charnel ground.
သော အသုစိနာ ကာယကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော, အသုစိနာ ဝစီကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော, အသုစိနာ မနောကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတော သဘာဂေဟိ ပုဂ္ဂလေဟိ သဒ္ဓိံ သံဝသတိ၊ ဣဒမဿ ဝါဠာဝါသသ္မိံ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိဝထိကာ ဝါဠာနံ အမနုဿာနံ အာဝါသော; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
Because of their filthy conduct, they live together with people of a similar character. This is how they gather with savage monsters, I say. That person is just as much a gathering place of savage monsters as a charnel ground.
တမေနံ အသုစိနာ ကာယကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ, အသုစိနာ ဝစီကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ, အသုစိနာ မနောကမ္မေန သမန္နာဂတံ ပေသလာ သဗြဟ္မစာရီ ဒိသွာ ခီယဓမ္မံ အာပဇ္ဇန္တိ: ‘အဟော ဝတ နော ဒုက္ခံ ယေ မယံ ဧဝရူပေဟိ ပုဂ္ဂလေဟိ သဒ္ဓိံ သံဝသာမာ'တိ၊ ဣဒမဿ အာရောဒနာယ ဝဒါမိ၊ သေယျထာပိ သာ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, သိဝထိကာ ဗဟုနော ဇနဿ အာရောဒနာ; တထူပမာဟံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဣမံ ပုဂ္ဂလံ ဝဒါမိ၊
Because of their filthy conduct, when good-hearted spiritual companions see them they complain: ‘Oh, it’s so painful for us to have to live together with such as these.’ This is how there’s weeping, I say. This person is just as much a weeping place for many people as a charnel ground.
ဣမေ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဉ္စ အာဒီနဝါ သိဝထိကူပမေ ပုဂ္ဂလေ”တိ၊
These are the five drawbacks of a person like a charnel ground.”
