“สตฺต โว, ภิกฺขเว, อปริหานิเย ธมฺเม เทเสสฺสามิฯ ตํ สุณาถ, สาธุกํ มนสิ กโรถ …เป…ฯ กตเม จ, ภิกฺขเว, สตฺต อปริหานิยา ธมฺมา? ยาวกีวญฺจ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขู อนิจฺจสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ; วุทฺธิเยว, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขูนํ ปาฏิกงฺขา, โน ปริหานิฯ
“Bhikkhus, I will teach you seven principles that prevent decline. Listen and apply your mind well … And what are the seven principles that prevent decline? As long as the bhikkhus develop the perception of impermanence …
ยาวกีวญฺจ, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขู อนตฺตสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ …เป… อสุภสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ … อาทีนวสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ … ปหานสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ … วิราคสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ … นิโรธสญฺญํ ภาเวสฺสนฺติ; วุทฺธิเยว, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขูนํ ปาฏิกงฺขา, โน ปริหานิฯ ยาวกีวญฺจ, ภิกฺขเว, อิเม สตฺต อปริหานิยา ธมฺมา ภิกฺขูสุ ฐสฺสนฺติ, อิเมสุ จ สตฺตสุ อปริหานิเยสุ ธมฺเมสุ, ภิกฺขู สนฺทิสฺสิสฺสนฺติ; วุทฺธิเยว, ภิกฺขเว, ภิกฺขูนํ ปาฏิกงฺขา, โน ปริหานี”ติฯ
not-self … ugliness … drawbacks … giving up … fading away … cessation, they can expect growth, not decline. As long as these seven principles that prevent decline last among the bhikkhus, and as long as the bhikkhus are seen following them, they can expect growth, not decline.”
