The Spiritual Path (1st)
သာဝတ္ထိနိဒါနံ၊
At Sāvatthī.
“ဗြဟ္မစရိယဉ္စ ဝေါ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဒေသေဿာမိ, ဗြဟ္မစရိယဖလာနိ စ၊ တံ သုဏာထ၊
“Bhikkhus, I will teach you the spiritual path and the fruits of the spiritual path. Listen …
ကတမဉ္စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဗြဟ္မစရိယံ? အယမေဝ အရိယော အဋ္ဌင်္ဂိကော မဂ္ဂေါ, သေယျထိဒံ—သမ္မာဒိဋ္ဌိ …ပေ… သမ္မာသမာဓိ၊ ဣဒံ ဝုစ္စတိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဗြဟ္မစရိယံ၊
And what is the spiritual path? It is simply this noble eightfold path, that is: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samādhi. This is called the spiritual path.
ကတမာနိ စ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဗြဟ္မစရိယဖလာနိ? သောတာပတ္တိဖလံ, သကဒါဂါမိဖလံ, အနာဂါမိဖလံ, အရဟတ္တဖလံ—ဣမာနိ ဝုစ္စန္တိ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဗြဟ္မစရိယဖလာနီ”တိ၊
And what are the fruits of the spiritual path? The fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection. These are called the fruits of the spiritual path.”
