Pajjotasutta

Lamps

“चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, पज्जोता। कतमे चत्तारो? चन्दपज्जोतो, सूरियपज्जोतो, अग्गिपज्जोतो, पञ्ञापज्जोतो—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो पज्जोता। एतदग्गं, भिक्खवे, इमेसं चतुन्नं पज्जोतानं यदिदं पञ्ञापज्जोतो”ति।

“Cattārome, bhikkhave, pajjotā. Katame cattāro? Candapajjoto, sūriyapajjoto, aggipajjoto, paññāpajjoto—Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro pajjotā. Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ catunnaṁ pajjotānaṁ yadidaṁ paññāpajjoto”ti.

“Bhikkhus, there are these four lamps. What four? The lamps of the moon, sun, fire, and wisdom. These are the four lamps. The best of these four lamps is the lamp of wisdom.”
