The Decline of the True Teaching (2nd)
“ပဉ္စိမေ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဓမ္မာ သဒ္ဓမ္မဿ သမ္မောသာယ အန္တရဓာနာယ သံဝတ္တန္တိ၊ ကတမေ ပဉ္စ?
“Bhikkhus, these five things lead to the decline and disappearance of the true teaching. What five?
ဣဓ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ဘိက္ခူ ဓမ္မံ န ပရိယာပုဏန္တိ—သုတ္တံ, ဂေယျံ, ဝေယျာကရဏံ, ဂါထံ, ဥဒါနံ, ဣတိဝုတ္တကံ, ဇာတကံ, အဗ္ဘုတဓမ္မံ, ဝေဒလ္လံ၊ အယံ, ဘိက္ခဝေ, ပဌမော ဓမ္မော သဒ္ဓမ္မဿ သမ္မောသာယ အန္တရဓာနာယ သံဝတ္တတိ၊
It’s when the bhikkhus don’t memorize the teaching—statements, songs, discussions, verses, inspired exclamations, legends, stories of past lives, amazing stories, and classifications. This is the first thing that leads to the decline and disappearance of the true teaching.
