Black Snakes (2nd)
“ปญฺจิเม, ภิกฺขเว, อาทีนวา กณฺหสปฺเปฯ กตเม ปญฺจ? โกธโน, อุปนาหี, โฆรวิโส, ทุชฺชิโวฺห, มิตฺตทุพฺภีฯ อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจ อาทีนวา กณฺหสปฺเปฯ
“Bhikkhus, there are these five drawbacks of a black snake. What five? It’s irritable, hostile, venomous, fork-tongued, and treacherous. These are the five dangers of a black snake.
เอวเมวํ โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจิเม อาทีนวา มาตุคาเมฯ กตเม ปญฺจ? โกธโน, อุปนาหี, โฆรวิโส, ทุชฺชิโวฺห, มิตฺตทุพฺภีฯ ตตฺริทํ, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคามสฺส โฆรวิสตา—เยภุเยฺยน, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคาโม ติพฺพราโคฯ ตตฺริทํ, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคามสฺส ทุชฺชิวฺหตา—เยภุเยฺยน, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคาโม ปิสุณวาโจฯ ตตฺริทํ, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคามสฺส มิตฺตทุพฺภิตา—เยภุเยฺยน, ภิกฺขเว, มาตุคาโม อติจารินีฯ อิเม โข, ภิกฺขเว, ปญฺจ อาทีนวา มาตุคาเม”ติฯ
In the same way there are five drawbacks of a female. What five? She’s irritable, hostile, venomous, fork-tongued, and treacherous. This is a female’s venom: usually she’s very lustful. This is a female’s forked tongue: usually she speaks divisively. This is a female’s treachery: usually she’s an adulteress. These are the five drawbacks of a female.”
