Bāhirāyatanaanattasutta

The Exterior as Not-Self

“रूपा, भिक्खवे, अनत्ता। सद्दा … गन्धा … रसा … फोट्ठब्बा … धम्मा अनत्ता।

“Rūpā, bhikkhave, anattā. Saddā … gandhā … rasā … phoṭṭhabbā … dhammā anattā.

“Bhikkhus, sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and thoughts are not-self.

एवं पस्सं …पे… नापरं इत्थत्तायाति पजानाती”ति।

Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

सट्ठिपेय्यालो समत्तो।

Saṭṭhipeyyālo samatto.

तस्सुद्दानं

Tassuddānaṁ

छन्देनट्ठारस होन्ति, अतीतेन च द्वे नव; यदनिच्चाट्ठारस वुत्ता, तयो अज्झत्तबाहिरा; पेय्यालो सट्ठिको वुत्तो, बुद्धेनादिच्चबन्धुनाति।

Chandenaṭṭhārasa honti, atītena ca dve nava; Yadaniccāṭṭhārasa vuttā, tayo ajjhattabāhirā; Peyyālo saṭṭhiko vutto, buddhenādiccabandhunāti.

सुत्तन्तानि सट्ठि।

Suttantāni saṭṭhi.
