At the Eastern Gate
ឯវំ មេ សុតំ—ឯកំ សមយំ ភគវា សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរតិ បុព្ពកោដ្ឋកេ។ តត្រ ខោ ភគវា អាយស្មន្តំ សារិបុត្តំ អាមន្តេសិ:
So I have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying in Sāvatthī at the eastern gate. Then the Buddha said to Venerable Sāriputta:
“សទ្ទហសិ ត្វំ, សារិបុត្ត—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានន៑”តិ?
“Sāriputta, do you have faith that the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom, when developed and cultivated, culminate, finish, and end in the deathless?”
“ន ខ្វាហំ ឯត្ថ, ភន្តេ, ភគវតោ សទ្ធាយ គច្ឆាមិ—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ។ យេសញ្ហេតំ, ភន្តេ, អញ្ញាតំ អស្ស អទិដ្ឋំ អវិទិតំ អសច្ឆិកតំ អផស្សិតំ បញ្ញាយ, តេ តត្ថ បរេសំ សទ្ធាយ គច្ឆេយ្យុំ—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ។ យេសញ្ច ខោ ឯតំ, ភន្តេ, ញាតំ ទិដ្ឋំ វិទិតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ផស្សិតំ បញ្ញាយ, និក្កង្ខា តេ តត្ថ និព្ពិចិកិច្ឆា—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ។ មយ្ហញ្ច ខោ ឯតំ, ភន្តេ, ញាតំ ទិដ្ឋំ វិទិតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ផស្សិតំ បញ្ញាយ។ និក្កង្ខ្វាហំ តត្ថ និព្ពិចិកិច្ឆោ សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានន៑”តិ។
“Sir, in this case I don’t rely on faith in the Buddha’s claim that the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom, when developed and cultivated, culminate, finish, and end in the deathless. There are those who have not known or seen or understood or realized or experienced this with wisdom. They may rely on faith in this matter. But there are those who have known, seen, understood, realized, and experienced this with wisdom. They have no doubts or uncertainties in this matter. I have known, seen, understood, realized, and experienced this with wisdom. I have no doubts or uncertainties that the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom, when developed and cultivated, culminate, finish, and end in the deathless.”
“សាធុ សាធុ, សារិបុត្ត។ យេសញ្ហេតំ, សារិបុត្ត, អញ្ញាតំ អស្ស អទិដ្ឋំ អវិទិតំ អសច្ឆិកតំ អផស្សិតំ បញ្ញាយ, តេ តត្ថ បរេសំ សទ្ធាយ គច្ឆេយ្យុំ—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ។ យេសញ្ច ខោ ឯតំ, សារិបុត្ត, ញាតំ ទិដ្ឋំ វិទិតំ សច្ឆិកតំ ផស្សិតំ បញ្ញាយ, និក្កង្ខា តេ តត្ថ និព្ពិចិកិច្ឆា—សទ្ធិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានំ …បេ… បញ្ញិន្ទ្រិយំ ភាវិតំ ពហុលីកតំ អមតោគធំ ហោតិ អមតបរាយណំ អមតបរិយោសានន៑”តិ។
“Good, good, Sāriputta! There are those who have not known or seen or understood or realized or experienced this with wisdom. They may rely on faith in this matter. But there are those who have known, seen, understood, realized, and experienced this with wisdom. They have no doubts or uncertainties that the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom, when developed and cultivated, culminate, finish, and end in the deathless.”
