Phagguna’s Question
អថ ខោ អាយស្មា ផគ្គុនោ …បេ… ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ អាយស្មា ផគ្គុនោ ភគវន្តំ ឯតទវោច:
And then Venerable Phagguna went up to the Buddha … and said to him:
“អត្ថិ នុ ខោ, ភន្តេ, តំ ចក្ខុ, យេន ចក្ខុនា អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យ …បេ…
“Sir, suppose someone were to describe the Buddhas of the past who have become completely extinguished, cut off proliferation, cut off the track, finished off the cycle, and transcended suffering. Does the eye exist by which they could be described?
អត្ថិ នុ ខោ, ភន្តេ, សា ជិវ្ហា, យាយ ជិវ្ហាយ អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យ …បេ… អត្ថិ នុ ខោ សោ, ភន្តេ, មនោ, យេន មនេន អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យា”តិ?
Does the ear … nose … tongue … body exist …? Does the mind exist by which they could be described?”
“នត្ថិ ខោ តំ, ផគ្គុន, ចក្ខុ, យេន ចក្ខុនា អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យ …បេ…

នត្ថិ ខោ សា, ផគ្គុន, ជិវ្ហា, យាយ ជិវ្ហាយ អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យ …បេ… នត្ថិ ខោ សោ, ផគ្គុន, មនោ, យេន មនេន អតីតេ ពុទ្ធេ បរិនិព្ពុតេ ឆិន្នបបញ្ចេ ឆិន្នវដុមេ បរិយាទិន្នវដ្ដេ សព្ពទុក្ខវីតិវដ្ដេ បញ្ញាបយមានោ បញ្ញាបេយ្យា”តិ។
