With Sāriputta (1st)
ឯកំ សមយំ អាយស្មា ច សារិបុត្តោ អាយស្មា ច អានន្ទោ សាវត្ថិយំ វិហរន្តិ ជេតវនេ អនាថបិណ្ឌិកស្ស អារាមេ។ អថ ខោ អាយស្មា អានន្ទោ សាយន្ហសមយំ បដិសល្លានា វុដ្ឋិតោ …បេ… ឯកមន្តំ និសិន្នោ ខោ អាយស្មា អានន្ទោ អាយស្មន្តំ សារិបុត្តំ ឯតទវោច:
At one time Venerable Sāriputta was staying near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery. Then in the late afternoon, Venerable Ānanda came out of retreat … and said to Sāriputta:
“កតិនំ នុ ខោ, អាវុសោ សារិបុត្ត, ធម្មានំ សមន្នាគមនហេតុ ឯវមយំ បជា ភគវតា ព្យាកតា សោតាបន្នា អវិនិបាតធម្មា និយតា សម្ពោធិបរាយណា”តិ?
“Friend, how many things do people have to possess in order for the Buddha to declare that they’re a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening?”
“ចតុន្នំ ខោ, អាវុសោ, ធម្មានំ សមន្នាគមនហេតុ ឯវមយំ បជា ភគវតា ព្យាកតា សោតាបន្នា អវិនិបាតធម្មា និយតា សម្ពោធិបរាយណា។
“Friend, people have to possess four things in order for the Buddha to declare that they’re a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.
កតមេសំ ចតុន្នំ? ឥធាវុសោ, អរិយសាវកោ ពុទ្ធេ អវេច្ចប្បសាទេន សមន្នាគតោ ហោតិ—ឥតិបិ សោ ភគវា …បេ… សត្ថា ទេវមនុស្សានំ ពុទ្ធោ ភគវាតិ។ ធម្មេ …បេ… សង្ឃេ …បេ… អរិយកន្តេហិ សីលេហិ សមន្នាគតោ ហោតិ អខណ្ឌេហិ …បេ… សមាធិសំវត្តនិកេហិ។ ឥមេសំ ខោ, អាវុសោ, ចតុន្នំ ធម្មានំ សមន្នាគមនហេតុ ឯវមយំ បជា ភគវតា ព្យាកតា សោតាបន្នា អវិនិបាតធម្មា និយតា សម្ពោធិបរាយណា”តិ។
What four? It’s when a noble disciple has experiential confidence in the Buddha … the teaching … the Saṅgha … And they have the ethical conduct loved by the noble ones … leading to samādhi. People have to possess these four things in order for the Buddha to declare that they’re a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.”
