Wise

“‘ပညဝါ အနေဠမူဂေါ, ပညဝါ အနေဠမူဂေါ'တိ, ဘန္တေ, ဝုစ္စတိ၊ ကိတ္တာဝတာ နု ခေါ, ဘန္တေ, ‘ပညဝါ အနေဠမူဂေါ'တိ ဝုစ္စတီ”တိ?

“Sir they speak of a person who is ‘wise, no idiot’. How is a person who is wise, no idiot defined?”

“သတ္တန္နံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခု, ဗောဇ္ဈင်္ဂါနံ ဘာဝိတတ္တာ ဗဟုလီကတတ္တာ ‘ပညဝါ အနေဠမူဂေါ'တိ ဝုစ္စတိ၊ ကတမေသံ သတ္တန္နံ? သတိသမ္ဗောဇ္ဈင်္ဂဿ …ပေ… ဥပေက္ခာသမ္ဗောဇ္ဈင်္ဂဿ—ဣမေသံ ခေါ, ဘိက္ခု, သတ္တန္နံ ဗောဇ္ဈင်္ဂါနံ ဘာဝိတတ္တာ ဗဟုလီကတတ္တာ ‘ပညဝါ အနေဠမူဂေါ'တိ ဝုစ္စတီ”တိ၊

“Bhikkhu, they’re called wise, no idiot because they’ve developed and cultivated the seven awakening factors. What seven? The awakening factors of mindfulness, investigation of principles, energy, (mental) joy, tranquility, samādhi, and equanimity. They’re called wise, no idiot because they’ve developed and cultivated these seven awakening factors.”
