“यो खो, कोट्ठिक, अनत्ता तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। को च, कोट्ठिक, अनत्ता?
“Yo kho, koṭṭhika, anattā tatra te chando pahātabbo. Ko ca, koṭṭhika, anattā?
“Koṭṭhita, you should give up desire for what is not-self. And what is not-self?
चक्खु खो, कोट्ठिक, अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। रूपा अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। चक्खुविञ्ञाणं अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। चक्खुसम्फस्सो अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। यम्पिदं चक्खुसम्फस्सपच्चया उप्पज्जति वेदयितं सुखं वा दुक्खं वा अदुक्खमसुखं वा तम्पि अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो …पे…
Cakkhu kho, koṭṭhika, anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. Rūpā anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. Cakkhuviññāṇaṁ anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. Cakkhusamphasso anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. The eye, sights, eye consciousness, and eye contact are not-self: you should give up desire for them. The pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact is also not-self: You should give up desire for it.
जिव्हा अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो …पे… मनो अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। धम्मा अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो। मनोविञ्ञाणं … मनोसम्फस्सो … यम्पिदं मनोसम्फस्सपच्चया उप्पज्जति वेदयितं सुखं वा दुक्खं वा अदुक्खमसुखं वा तम्पि अनत्ता; तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो।
jivhā anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo …pe… mano anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. Dhammā anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo. Manoviññāṇaṁ … manosamphasso … yampidaṁ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi anattā; tatra te chando pahātabbo.
The ear … nose … tongue … body … The mind, thoughts, mind consciousness, and mind contact … The pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is also not-self: you should give up desire for it.
यो खो, कोट्ठिक, अनत्ता, तत्र ते छन्दो पहातब्बो”ति।
Yo kho, koṭṭhika, anattā, tatra te chando pahātabbo”ti.
