The Teaching
“धम्मञ्च वो, भिक्खवे, देसेस्सामि अधम्मञ्च। तं सुणाथ …पे… कतमो च, भिक्खवे, अधम्मो? पाणातिपातो …पे… मिच्छादिट्ठि—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, अधम्मो।
“Dhammañca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi adhammañca. Taṁ suṇātha …pe… katamo ca, bhikkhave, adhammo? Pāṇātipāto …pe… micchādiṭṭhi—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, adhammo.
“I will teach you what is the teaching and what is not the teaching. … And what is not the teaching? Killing living creatures … wrong view. This is called what is not the teaching.
कतमो च, भिक्खवे, धम्मो? पाणातिपाता वेरमणी …पे… सम्मादिट्ठि—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, धम्मो”ति।
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, dhammo? Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī …pe… sammādiṭṭhi—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, dhammo”ti.
And what is the teaching? Not killing living creatures … right view. This is called the teaching.”
