Āsevitabbasutta
Should Be Cultivated
“आसेवितब्बञ्च वो, भिक्खवे, धम्मं देसेस्सामि न आसेवितब्बञ्च। तं सुणाथ …पे… कतमो च, भिक्खवे, न आसेवितब्बो धम्मो? मिच्छादिट्ठि …पे… मिच्छाविमुत्ति—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, न आसेवितब्बो धम्मो। कतमो च, भिक्खवे, आसेवितब्बो धम्मो? सम्मादिट्ठि …पे… सम्माविमुत्ति—अयं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, आसेवितब्बो धम्मो”ति।
“Āsevitabbañca vo, bhikkhave, dhammaṁ desessāmi na āsevitabbañca. Taṁ suṇātha …pe… katamo ca, bhikkhave, na āsevitabbo dhammo? Micchādiṭṭhi …pe… micchāvimutti—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, na āsevitabbo dhammo. Katamo ca, bhikkhave, āsevitabbo dhammo? Sammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāvimutti—ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, āsevitabbo dhammo”ti.
“I will teach you the principle to cultivate and the principle not to cultivate. … And what is the principle not to cultivate? Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, wrong samādhi, wrong knowledge, and wrong freedom. This is called the principle not to cultivate. And what is the principle to cultivate? Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right samādhi, right knowledge, and right freedom. This is called the principle to cultivate.”
